Due Dates, Late Fees, Cut-Off Day Clarification

Water bills are delivered to customers on or about the 25th of each month. Customers have until the 10th  day of the following month or next business day to pay the bill in full to avoid receiving a disconnect notice. If a disconnect notice is received, customers will have 10 days after the date of the notice to pay in full to avoid disconnect fees.  

Meter Service Tampering

Any customers who have tampered with the lock after having been disconnected, is in violation of Texas Penal Code 28.03 and could face prosecution. Meter tampering includes:

  •  Meter lock broken
  • Curb stop damaged or broken
  • Endpoint Encoder damaged or disconnected
  •   Meter lock removed
  •   Meter broken
  •   Meter stolen
  •   Unauthorized connection inserted
  • Any unauthorized water usage

AWSC will assess a tampering fee for meters found to be tampered with. The tampering fee can range from $100.00 to $500.00.

Theft of Water Service

Theft of water services shall refer to any customer who reconnects water service in any way after AWSC has disconnected the water for nonpayment of a delinquent bill. AWSC can pursue civil or criminal charges against anyone who tempers with the water meters.
